Toulouse number eight Jerome Kaino has been handed a five-week ban following his yellow-card incident in the opening game of the European Champions Cup against Bath Rugby at Recreation Ground last weekend.

The 35-year-old was sin-binned just before the half-time for a dangerous tackle on Jamie Roberts with the latter was forced off the field with a head injury.

Roberts failed to pass the Head Injury Assessment that kept him out of the game but has now been declared fit for the second round of the competition against Wasps this Saturday.

Kaino appeared before an independent disciplinary committee and was proved guilty of the charges with the panel deeming that the action of the former New Zealand international warranted a red-card.

He was handed a six-week ban initially that was reduced by a week following his conduct during the hearing and other mitigating factors.

"We've still got to follow the proper protocol but he's come through. He's [Roberts] on track and available this weekend," said Bath head coach Todd Blackadder to Radio Bristol.

Toulouse kick-started their European Champions Cup campaign with a 20-22 win over Bath Rugby and will face Leinster next on Sunday.
