French club Toulon have confirmed the exit of head coach Mike Ford with Richard Cockerill taking in charge of the team.
The decision comes after Toulon failed to secure a berth in the semi-final of the ongoing European Champions Cup following a 29-9 defeat to Clermont Auvergne.
Ford joined Toulon on a short-term deal in October last year after his departure from Bath and in January was accompanied by Cockerill, who joined the team as a consultant.
The news was confirmed by the official website of Toulon.
"Toulon rugby club and Mike Ford have parted company by mutual agreement as of Monday April 3 2017.
"Richard Cockerill will take charge of the first team, assisted by Marc Dal Maso.
"Matt Giteau has agreed to lead the backs while continuing as a player."
According to reports, Toulon boss is targeting former France captain Fabien Galthie as the head coach next summer with Cockerill handling the responsibility of the ongoing Top 14 season.
