Sale Sharks 5-15 Toulon, AJ Bell Stadium
Scorecard

Toulon bounced back from its home defeat against Saracens to defeat the Sharks by 5-15 at the AJ Bell Stadium during the 2016-17 European Rugby Champions Cup pool stage clash on Friday.

Leigh Halfpenny was the star performer for the visitors as the fullback bagged 10 points for the French club which included a 12th minute converted try and a sixth minute penalty.

Charles Ollivon was the other try scorer for the visitors as the blindside-flanker crossed over the line on ninth minute to score the first try of the match.

Steve Diamond's Sharks had a frustrating outing as the English Premiership side failed to create enough try scoring opportunities despite having 62% of overall possession.

Left-wing Paolo Odogwu's 32nd minute try helped the Sharks to open their account on the scoreboard, however, the hosts failed to make any further addition to their tally.

Toulon will now host the Scarlets at Stade Mayol, while the Sharks will travel to London to face fellow Premiership side Saracens next weekend.
