Argentina scrum-half Tomas Cubelli insisted that his team will head into the clash against England at Twickenham on Saturday with a 'calculated-risk' approach.

Argentina have managed just four wins in their 20 encounters with England previously and have lost 14 with two ending in a draw. Their last win against England came in June 2009 in Salta when they edged Steve Borthwick's team by 22-24.

Argentina surprised the Springboks with a 24-22 win in their recent Rugby Championship encounter in August and since then they lost six out of the seven games played with defeats coming against New Zealand, Australia, Scotland and Wales.

Now they will be facing a resurgent England team, who are on a 12-match unbeaten streak and are looking to go undefeated this year under head coach Eddie Jones.

"We have to keep taking calculated risks - the potential reward has to be worth that," said Cubelli.

"It could be riskier to step back from that, we feel.

"That's the style of game we'll continue to push. We'll keep trying to play that kind of game.

"I think England are doing a great job, they are playing great rugby and everyone is talking about their perfect year.

"That won't make us think too much about them though, we have to focus on ourselves - there's things we have to fix and keep on improving.

"We wouldn't be here if we didn't think we could win this week.

"And so that would be massive for us."

With Argentina launching their first ever Super Rugby team Jaguares in 2016, players had to deal with a grueling schedule. The international players who also play for Jaguares had to board 50 long-haul flights in 35 weeks.

Fullback Joaquin Tuculet admitted the schedule has taken a toil on the players and hopes a win against England on Saturday will provide the much needed boost to the Pumas to end the year on a high.

"We have a good chance to change our year," said Tuculet.

"It's been tough, it's been a long season, playing Super Rugby and then with Los Pumas.

"It's been amazing, but hard.

"This weekend we have a chance to change things, in our last game.

"We have great players, we can play far better and so we expect to improve this weekend.

"We had a very good World Cup, we've sometimes managed to play some of our best rugby against the top teams.

"I don't know why that is. But it's time for us to raise the level again.

"England have a very good squad, they have had a fantastic year.

"England did brilliantly in Australia, and in the Six Nations too.

"They have great confidence from their coach and this will definitely be a tough game for us."
