London Irish has bolstered its options at hooker for next season with the signing of Tom Cruse from Rotherham Titans.

The 26-year-old has spent two seasons with the RFU Championship side after signing from Sale Sharks.

The dynamic front rower has pace, power and an immense skill set. He has also been very prolific as a try scorer for the Titans during his time with the Club and has been one of the best hookers in the Championship.

Tom began his senior playing career at Stockport Rugby Club alongside representative honours for Cheshire. Following on from a number of good performances and early signs of talent, Tom was signed by the Sale Sharks Academy. After a season with Sale he signed for Rotherham.

Commenting on his decision to sign for London Irish, Tom said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Rotherham and am grateful for the opportunities they have given me. The chance to sign for London Irish and play in the Aviva Premiership is something I have worked hard to achieve. There is a lot of excitement around London Irish at the moment and I’m looking forward to getting started when I join in the summer. Until then my sole focus is on leaving Rotherham Titans on a high.”

London Irish Operations Director, Bob Casey said: “Tom has been an emerging talent in the Championship for a number of years so we are delighted that he has signed for us. He has a strong set piece and is dynamic around the park. He is ambitious, the right age and a player who wants to be part of London Irish’s plans and we look forward to welcoming him in to the London Irish family in the summer.”

Tom joins Ben Franks, Brendan McKibbin, Joe Trayfoot, Andy Goode, Dominic Waldouck, Sean Maitland, David Sisi and Matt Symons in joining the Club next season.
