Robbie Diack Interview

We caught up with Ulster’s South African Number 8 Robbie Diack.

1. How do you think Ulster are doing this year?

Ulster having a fantastic season so far. Team growing in confidence and such a feeling of belief amongst the players. great depth in team

2. How is you came to Ulster?

Playing for stormers and was contacted by Ulster and loved every bit of my stay here in Northern Ireland. Great people and all very friendly and welcoming. Weather is a bit different to back home but a great spot to live.

3. Who is your rugby hero?

Rugby hero is Mark Andrews who played lock for the Springboks in the 90′s.

4. How is Magners League Rugby different to the Super Rugby?

Magners league compared to super rugby. Bit slower cause of weather conditions but a lot more physical I believe. Very competitive rugby

5. Who is the best player you have played with?

Best player played with is Schalk Burger.

6. Best player you have played against?

Best player played against is Richie McCaw

7. What tips would you give to youngsters?

Tips for youngsters. All the sacrifice and hard word in your younger years makes being a professional all that more rewarding.

8. What would you like to do after Rugby?

After rugby would like to get involved in property or some line of finance.

9. Have you got any good friends in rugby in the Northern Hemisphere who don’t play for Ulster?

Have a few friends playing for Saracens and is great to watch them play there. Then a few at Racing Metro in Paris and Clermont.

Finally – if you had a message to say to your fans who have been supporting Ulster at Ravenhill what would you say to all of them?

Fans at Ravenhill are absolutely fantastic. So loyal and the support they show the guys is remarkable and much appreciated. I hope they keep coming to Ravenhill for the remainder of the season, they really inspires the players.
