Team Profile - Argentina U20s

With the Junior Rugby World Cup now in full swing in New Zealand and after Tuesday’s huge Pool 3 Clash between England and Argentina, we at Talking Rugby Union wanted to bring you the inside view on the junior Pumas.

England took on the Pumas in Auckland in the final Pool A game, which saw the reigning junior world champions win by the narrowest of margins at 17-16.

Talking Rugby Union’s partners Total Rugby went behind the scenes with the junior Pumas, just a couple of weeks before the tournament began to see how their preparations were going.

A well-drilled and notoriously physical outfit, the South Americans will be looking to emulate the senior side’s success on the big stage and improve on their sixth place finish last year.

The team from Total Rugby chat to both Emiliano Boffelli and Santiago Montaner and also Head Coach Rodolfo Ambrosio about Argentina’s aim for their young players.

The Junior Pumas appeared at their first World Cup in 2008 and have competed in all six since then, with their best performance coming in South Africa in 2012 with a fourth place finish.
