Scorecard

Scrum-half Tane Takulua scored all 16 points for Newcastle Falcons as they managed to edge out Worcester Warriors by 16-14 in a tight Aviva Premiership encounter at Kingston Park on Friday.

After the first 30 minutes went without a point, Takulua kicked two penalties to help Newcastle Falcons gain a 6-0 lead at the end of the first half.

Takulua continued the momentum at the start of the second half with his third penalty to make the score 9-0 but a sin-bin in the 51st minute to Newcastle Falcons' flanker Will Welch resulted in a penalty try for the visitors, who used the opportunity to reduce the gap down to two points.

Newcastle Falcons soon went into lead when Will Spencer crossed over in the 58th minute while Ryan Mills added his second conversion. However, Spencer was sent-off temporarily a minute later.

As the game was heading into the final 10 minutes, Worcester Warriors had a slender five point lead but Takulua capped off the game on a high with his converted try in the 74th minute to complete a thrilling two point win for Newcastle Falcons.

Newcastle Falcons continue to be at ninth position after the win with 44 points from 21 games and will head to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol in their final game of this season.
