On Friday we asked would the semi-finals be good or great? We should perhaps have asked expected or unexpected?

Super Rugby 2014 semi-finals showed us that there is now little doubt that the best two teams will line up in the Super Rugby final next weekend with solid wins in the semi-finals.

The margins of these wins were more usual in the later rounds of the Super Rugby regular season, but after the tight Qualification Round last week, most people expected both Super Rugby 2014 semi-finals to be closer than they were. The Sharks could blame the travel factor, but the Brumbies had no excuse.

Both the Waratahs and Crusaders were simply too clinical for their opponents in  this round, which was closer to the Super Rugby Round 19 average winning margin of 25 rather than the Qualification Finals, which had an average of 3 point winning margins.

Super Rugby 2014 Semi Finals results

Crusaders 38 - 6 Sharks
Waratahs 26 - 8 Brumbies

For Scott Donaldson, there is only one question left to ask:

Who are you picking to win the Super Rugby 2014 final, the Waratahs or Crusaders?

You will have to wait until later in the week to see what Scott thinks.
