Sikhumbuzo Notshe and Dillyn Leyds scored five tries between them as Stormers consolidated their position at the top after thrashing Cheetahs by 53-10 in their Super Rugby clash at DHL Newlands on Saturday.

Leyds (15' and 37') along with number eight Sikhumbuzo Notshe (22') were the try scorers for Stormers for the first half while fly half Robert du Preez added two conversions and a penalty to take the home side to 22 points in the first half.

Fly half Fred Zeilinga scored a lone penalty for the visitors in the first 40 minutes as they headed into half time trailing by 19 points.

Daniel du Plessis (42'), du Preez (53'), flanker Siya Kolisi (59') and Notshe (64' and 79') crossed over for Stormers in the second half as they amassed 53 points. The only try for the visitors came from Paul Schoeman in the 44th minute as they lost the game by 43 points.

With five wins from as many games, Stormers top the pole position in Africa 1 Conference while Cheetahs are at second.
