South Africa international Zane Kirchner is set to join Newport Gwent Dragons for the 2017/18 season.

The 32-year-old, who has played at fullback, centre and wing will make a switch from Leinster after joining the Irish regional side in 2013. He also has the experience of playing for the Super Rugby side Bulls between 2008 and 2012 during which his team clinched the Super Rugby title in 2009 and 2010.

During the 2013/14 season, Kirchner scored two tries to help Leinster to a Pro 12 title win as well.

Dragons head coach Kingsley Jones said: "Zane's experience on and off the field will be invaluable for this young squad.

" He is a great addition to our young back line, and I believe he will bring a much-needed voice in the backs to help these youngsters with their development."

After making his debut for Springboks in 2009, he has featured in 31 Tests with his last appearance coming in the 2015 World Cup when they were shocked by Japan.
