Bordeaux Begles kept their hopes of making into the European Challenge Cup play-offs alive following a 36-27 bonus point victory over RC Enisei in their European Challenge Cup encounter at Stade Chaban-Delmas on Friday.

The result means Bordeaux are currently positioned second in Pool 1 behind Newcastle Falcons while RC Enisei are languishing at the bottom.

Fullback Geoffrey Cros got the home side off the mark with an eighth minute try that was improved by Ben Volavola. Even though Yuri Kushnarev kicked back to back penalties to bring down the gap to one point, Bordeaux upped the ante when Iban Etcheverry and Julien Rey went past the line in the 20th and 24th minutes to increase their lead to 15 points.

Winger Evgeny Nepeyvoda provided some respite for the visitors with his try at the stroke of half time to reduce RC Enisei's trail to eight points.

The second half saw Anton Rudoy leading RC Enisei's fightback with two tries in the final quarter but unconverted touchdowns from Kitione Kamikamica (50'), Julien Rey (63') and Florian Dufour (79') ensured Bordeaux completed the bonus point victory.
