Scorecard

Garth April kicked 16 points with the boot to help Sharks secure a 26-10 win against the Cheetahs in Durban on Saturday to boost their Super Rugby quarterfinal hopes.

Centre JP Pietersen (34) and replacement scrum-half Stefan Ungerer (62) crossed over the try line for the home side.

The 24-year-old fly-half scored four crucial penalties and converted both the tries for the Sharks to help them secure a 16-point victory.

Winger Raymond Rhule (15) was the lone try scorer for the visitors as fly-half Fred Zeilinga managed to convert the try in addition to a penalty scored on the 42nd minute.

The win has helped Sharks take back the third place in the South African Group which was earlier today provisionally taken by the Bulls after their 50-3 win over the Sunwolves in Pretoria.

The two teams are now separated by two points with the Bulls travelling to Bloemfontein to face the Cheetahs whereas the Sharks having a comparatively easier battle at hand as they face Sunwolves at home in the round-robin concluding game.
