Gloucester Rugby 55-19 Worcester Warriors, Kingsholm
Scorecard

Gloucester Warriors ran a seven-try riot as they secured a 55-19 bonus point victory over Worcester Warriors in their Aviva Premiership encounter at Kingsholm on Saturday.

Wing Jonny May (14'), centre Matt Scott (18') and flanker Jacob Rowan (34') were the try scorers in the first half for Gloucester while Scotland captain Greig Laidlaw converted all the three tries and scored a penalty as well to take the home team to 24 points in the first half.

In response, a 31st minute try from wing Cooper Vuna and a conversion from fly-half Ryan Mills remained the only points for Worcester Warriors in the the first half by the end of which they were trailing by 17 points.

After an early penalty from fly-half Billy Burns in the second half, Gloucester continued their dominance when replacement John Afoa (54'), wing Charlie Sharples (64'), centre Matt Scott (67') and prop Josh Hohneck contributed with four more tries to take them to 55 points.

Even though, replacement Tevita Cavubati and lock Alafoti Faosiliva scored a try each in the final 10 minutes, they could not prevent Worcester Warriors from succumbing to a 36-point defeat.

Gloucester have moved to eighth position with the win while Worcester continue to struggle at the 11th place with one point separating them and the last placed Bristol.

Gloucester rugby director David Humphreys was pleased with his team's performance.

"I think coming off the back of so many close defeats in this competition, and having been left very disappointed by the last couple of weeks, today we showed how we can play.

"The basics were all there - the set-piece was good, our defence was good - and we took our opportunities.

"At this moment in time, it feels like our best performance of the season. Beating Wasps at home was an outstanding performance, but today was a case of in order to score that many points, we took our opportunities."
