Scotland lock Tim Swinson has been sidelined for up to six months following a surgery on his leg.

The 31-year-old left the field in the fifth minute of Scotland's final game in the summer tour against Argentina which the Dark Blues went on to win 15-44.

As a result, Swinson will be heading back home and will undergo a surgery on his leg that will keep him out of action for the first half of the next season and the autumn internationals.

Swinson also was sidelined for four months last season after sustaining a hand injury during Scotland's autumn international campaign last year.
