Edinburgh have confirmed that Scotland international Stuart McInally has penned a new two year deal with the Pro 14 club.

The 27-year-old joined the Scottish regional side in 2009 and his contract was due to end at the conclusion of the ongoing season but his new deal means he will remain with Edinburgh until 2020. He has also had a brief stint as captain with the club.

McInally's Scotland debut came in August 2015 and has featured in 10 Tests until now including the recent autumn international encounter against Samoa at Murrayfield last weekend.

Edinburgh head coach Richard Cockerill is delighted with the news of McInally extending his stay with the club.

"Stuart McInally has been Scotland's form hooker and I'm delighted that he sees his future in Edinburgh," said Cockerill.

"We're building a strong culture and environment here and Stuart is very much central to those plans."

McInally has also captained the Scotland Under 20 side during the 2010 Six Nations and was part of the squad that represented in the 2009 IRB Junior World Championship.

Edinburgh are currently positioned fourth in the Conference B of the ongoing Pro 14 season with five wins from eight matches.
