Harlequins have confirmed that Scotland international Sam Hidalgo-Clyne will join the Gallagher Premiership for the remainder of the 2018/19 season on a loan deal from Scarlets.

The 25-year-old made his professional rugby debut with Edinburgh in 2011 and moved to Welsh regional side Scarlets in 2018. He was also named the Pro12 Young Player of the Year for Edinburgh at the end of the 2014/15 season.

The scrum-half will head to Twickenham Stoop as cover for Charlie Mulchrone, who will miss the rest of the season with a head injury.

“Sam is a fantastic scrum-half and we are very pleased to have been able to get him on board with us for the remainder of the season," said Harlequins head of rugby Paul Gustard.

“I know he has the personality and energy to fit in very quickly and easily into our squad and I look forward to him contributing as we look to end the season on a high.”

Hidalgo-Clyne made his debut for Scotland in 2015 and until now has featured in 12 Tests with his last appearance coming during the summer series last year.

Harlequins are currently at the third position in the Gallagher Premiership table with nine wins from 16 games.
