Scotland international Adam Ashe has been sidelined for the next four months after undergoing a hip surgery.

The Glasgow Warriors number-8 was earlier recovering from a foot injury that he sustained during the previous season of the Pro12 play-off against Connacht. However, it was his persistent hip injury that forced him to go under the knife.

A statement released by the Glasgow Warriors confirmed the update on the 23-year-old.

"Adam Ashe has had an operation on an underlying hip injury, while recovering from a foot injury sustained against Connacht in the Guinness PRO12 Play-Off last season.

"The backrower has commenced his rehab programme and is expected to be unavailable for the remainder of the calendar year."

Ashe also has the experience of representing Scotland U17, U18 and U20 teams while also appearing for the Scotland sevens team nine times in 2011-12.

After kick starting their Pro12 2016/17 season with a 41-5 victory over Connacht, Glasgow Warriors will take on Leinster next on 10th September.
