Scotland clinch London sevens while South Africa crowned champions

Scotland Sevens went on to win the London Sevens tournament after managing a 12-7 victory over England Sevens team in the final of the World Rugby Sevens Series 2016/17 season.

However, it was South Africa, who were crowned the champions after they managed victories in five out of the 10 rounds and they amassed 192 points while England finished second with 164 points followed by third placed Fiji Sevens team with 150 points.

Dan Norton scored the opening try for England in the final while Will Edwards added the conversion to make it 7-0 and the lead remained intact at the end of the first half as Scotland failed to add any point. Scotland, however, showed more intent at the start of the second half with Hugh Blake crossing over while Scott Wright's conversion helped them level the scores 7-7.

The decisive blow though came from skipper Scott Riddell as Scotland managed to seal a five point victory despite a missed conversion from Wright.

Canada won the Bronze after defeating USA 19-22 while South Africa managed to finish fifth after outplaying Australia with a 17-28 win. Challenge trophy was won by Fiji sevens team, who defeated Wales sevens 26-14.
