Scorecard

Saracens maintained their winning streak as they defeated Lyon 29-10 in the second round of the Heineken Champions Cup at Allianz Park on Saturday.

This is Saracens' 8th continuous win in the ongoing season with six out of it coming in the Gallagher Premiership and two in the Champions Cup that saw them occupy the top position in Pool 3 while Lyon are at the bottom of the table.

Owen Farrell kicked a fourth minute penalty goal to begin the proceedings for the home side before Maro Itoje ripped the ball clean from Etienne Oosthuizen and raced for the opening try in the 13th minute. Farrell kicked the extras as Mark McCall's men raced to a 10-0 lead.

The Sarries further extended the lead with Sean Maitland pounced on an error from the visitors for their second try that was improved by Farrell with the scoreline becoming 17-0. The response from Lyon came close to the half-hour mark with a three-pointer from Lionel Beauxis but they still had an uphill task of being 14 points down.

The Premiership side extended their dominance in the second half when Brad Barritt rolled over in a driven maul with Farrell's conversion making scoreline 24-3.

Virgile Lacombe dotted down in the 70th minute to provide some respite for the French side but Alex Lewington burrowed over with three minutes left in the game to help Saracens claim a bonus point victory.
