Samoa have progressed to the 2019 World Cup in Japan following their victories over Germany in the Oceania/Europe play-offs.

Samoa sealed a 42-28 victory in Heidelberg on Saturday after already completing a 66-15 win in the first leg in Apia to take their aggregate to 108-43.

The win also takes them to the Pool A in the showpiece event next year alongside Ireland, Scotland, Japan and Russia.

World Rugby chairman Bill Beaumont congratulated Samoa on their success and also lavished praise on Germany, who will now be seen in action in November's Repechage competition where they will take on Canada, Hong Kong and the Rugby Africa Gold Cup runner-up.

“Congratulations to Samoa on Rugby World Cup 2019 qualification and a place in Pool A. Germany will be encouraged by a strong performance as they look ahead to November’s Repechage," he tweeted.
