Ospreys have confirmed that back-rower Sam Cross has signed a new two-year deal with the Pro14 club.

Having started his career with Ebbw Vale in 2013, the 28-year-old also represented Cardiff Met and Newport RFC before joining Ospreys ahead of the 2017/18 season.

Since his move to the Liberty Stadium, Cross has gone on to make 58 appearances for the club and has scored five tries in it. He also represented Wales 7s team in over 100 games and was part of the team GB Sevens squad that went on to win the Silver medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Cross has also represented Wales at the international level making two Test appearances that came during the November series in 2017.

“I am excited to extend my stay at the Ospreys, with what we are building on and off the field and I just wanted to be a part of it," he told the official website of the club.

"I was really happy the coaches offered me a new contract and I was really happy to accept it.

“What we are creating off the field and have started to deliver on it, with the performances and results this season, is something you want to be a part of.

"There is a real camaraderie between the boys and the new coaching group and it’s just an exciting time to be an Osprey."

Ospreys head coach Toby Booth is delighted with Cross extending his stay with the club.

“Sam is an energizer and has a really positive impact on our game with his high-tempo approach and adaptable skillset.

"He is an integral part of our culture and is a good influence both on and off the field.”

Ospreys started their Rainbow Cup campaign with a 36-14 win over Cardiff Blues and will face Scarlets next on 8th May.
