Sale Sharks 27-24 Bath Rugby, AJ Bell Stadium
Scorecard

Sale Sharks successfully managed to overhaul Bath as they ended the season on a high with a 27-24 victory in their Aviva Premiership clash at AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday.

The result also meant Bath have missed out on the play-off after finishing fifth with 59 points while Sale Sharks finished on 10th position.

After the first 15 minutes went without a score, AJ MacGinty kicked the first penalty for Sale Sharks in the 16th minute as a result of sin-bin to Bath prop Shaun Knight. Despite being one man down temporarily, Todd Blackadder's man upped the ante with Max Clark crossing over and Rhys Priestland scoring the conversion.

However, Sale Sharks dominated the second quarter completely with Denny Solomona and Ben Curry rumbling past the post to end the first half 20-10 in favour of the home side.

Replacement Josh Charnley extended Sale Sharks advantage with a cross over at the start of the second half but Bath narrowed down the gap after they were awarded a penalty try in the 55th minute and seven minutes later, Matt Banahan went past the line. Just as the game was heading for a tight finish, Sale Sharks held their nerve and managed to secure their three point lead thereby completing a thrilling victory.
