Harlequins 10 - 13 Sale Sharks, Twickenham Stoop

Centre Will Addison scored the decisive penalty in the closing stages as Sale Sharks managed to edge out Harlequins with a 10-13 victory at Twickenham Stoop in the Anglo-Welsh Cup encounter on Friday.

The first quarter saw Addison and Harlequins fly-half Ruaridh Jackson exchanging penalties. The Quins suffered a setback in 34th minute when prop Adam Jones was sin-binned for taking Jonathan Mills out in a line-out.

Hooker Neil Briggs capitalised on the advantage and scored the first try in the game as Sale Sharks to a 3-10 lead in the first half following a conversion from Addison.

England international Jack Clifford came into action from the bench in the 48th minute and three minutes later Sale Sharks prop Brian Mujati was yellow carded.

In the 57th minute, Harlequins were awarded a penalty try and Jackson's conversion meant the scores were levelled 10-10.

Just when the game was heading for a draw, Addison held his nerve and scored the final penalty in the 77th minute to secure a three-point win for Sale Sharks.

Despite, the defeat Harlequins continue to top Pool 3 with 14 points while Sale Sharks claimed the pole position in Pool 2 with 13 points.
