Sale Sharks have confirmed back-row Jono Ross as the captain of the English Premiership club ahead of the 2018/19 season.
Born in South Africa, the 27-year-old also qualifies to play for England due to his grandmother's heritage and was even a part of the training squad ahead of the game against Barbarians in June.
Ross has also featured for Blue Bulls, Saracens, Bulls and Stade Francais before he joined Sale Sharks in 2017.
“Sale Sharks is a club looking to go places and it’s a real privilege to be captain," he said.
“Nothing changes, really. I’ll probably have to speak a little more. The guys will probably tell you I say a lot anyway!
“Hopefully, I can take the club to new heights. It’s an exciting time.”
Sale Sharks will open the Gallagher Premiership season with a clash against Harlequins at Twickenham Stoop on 1st September.
