NZ Sevens Barred:

It has been reported (from a very reputable source!?) that the Kiwi Men's sevens side would be refused entry back into their country, after being beaten by a tenascious Fijian side in the QFs.

With the NZ Women losing in the final to Australia, taking home the very respectable Silver medal, it was up to the Men's side to go for Gold.

To date New Zealand have two Silvers throughout the Olympics (one more coming in the shooting), and pushing for a Gold in the Men's Rugby Sevens.

Dan in Demand:

Having suffered a set-back with a dislocated shoulder earlier in the year, Dan Bibby has comeback to a rich vein of form with the GB Sevens in Rio.

Scoring the golden-point winner in last night's quarter-final against Argentina has pricked up a few rugby agent's ears.

Sale Sharks have reportedly been chasing Bibby, but with the Wiganer's move from down south doubtful, it's with the London based Premiership clubs which is likely to bear more fruit.

Thorn out of retirement:

The 41 year-old, World Cup Winning, All Black veteran Brad Thorn is set to come out of retirement.

He has been announced in the Queensland Country squad for National Rugby Championship, where he is supposedly taking up a player/coach role.

Waiting room for SBW:

After rupturing his Achilles in the Olympic group stages, New Zealand star Sonny Bill Williams had to wait for over an hour because of the ambuluance's late arrival to the scene.

Seems the traffic in Brazil is a major concern for the emergency services too.

SBW has been ruled out for up to 9 months with his injury but is said to stay in Rio to support Team New Zeland.
