Rugby legends named in Icons of Rugby golf tournament

Rugby starts both past and present will gather at Buckinghamshire Golf Club on 28th and 29th July to compete in the Icons of Rugby competition.

The event will see teams from Northern and Southern Hemisphere battle out for two days and contains 13 players, who have enjoyed World Cup success during their career.

Ireland playmaker Johnny Sexton, Keith Wood, Lawrence Dallaglio, Mike Tindall and legendary coach Sir Clive Woodward. Jeremy Guscott and Stuart Hogg will feature for the Northern Hemisphere.

The Southern Hemisphere team will comprise of All black legends Zinzan Brooke, Christian Cullen and Grant Fox alongside Bryan Habana, John Smit, Fourie Du Preez and coach Jake White.

The teams will be captained by professional golfers, who will not be a playing member in the squad but will assist them in making strategies helping their respective team to a victory.

The founder of the Icons Series Concept Tom Brookes is delighted by the expectation created by the event and is hoping for a great turnout.

“There are lots of other special features for spectators to enjoy at the event that’s designed to be inclusive for both rugby and golf fans, with adults gaining entry for just £20 and anyone under the age of 18 for free each day.

“More than 70% of spectators at previous Icons Series events have been new to golf events and with the strong teams of rugby icons we anticipate another great turnout of golfing newcomers.”
