Wales international Ross Moriarty is hopeful of a successful rehabilitation from a back injury that ended his maiden British and Irish Lions' tour prematurely.

The 23-year-old, who had high expectation leading to the tournament suffered the injury during the opening tour game against New Zealand Provincial Barbarians and was subsequently ruled out of the remainder of the tour.

Moriarty has been working with his club Gloucester's physios in a bid to be fit for the start of the next season on 1st September, though it looks unlikely at this stage.

“I’m getting there, I’m taking my time and doing a lot of work with the conditioners and the physios," said Moriarty, who made his international debut in 2015.

“They’re guiding me in the right direction and making sure my body’s going to be good when I’m going to be able to play again.

“Hopefully it won’t be too long but we’ll see what happens.”
