British and Irish Lions head coach Warren Gatland has named Ireland international Rory Best as captain for the upcoming tour game against Hurricanes on Tuesday in Wellington.

The 34-year-old previously captained the Lions in the tour game against Chiefs in which the visitors registered a 6-34 win in Hamilton.

Meanwhile, England lock George Kruis is the only player to feature for Tuesday's game from the Lions side that lost to All Blacks 30-15 at Eden Park on Saturday. The inclusion of the Saracens lock for the game against Hurricanes - two days after a gruelling Test against Steve Hansen's men only creates doubt on his participation for the second game in Wellington next weekend.

"We are obviously hugely disappointed with the result but it is important to regroup," said Gatland.

"We know there are a lot of players motivated to go out and get a result for the whole group.

"A few players put their hands up for selection from the Chiefs game and played their way into the Test team so they know that there is another opportunity for them on Tuesday against the Super Rugby champions."

Jack Nowell, George North and centre Jonathan Joseph all have been given a start in the game while Kruis will be on the bench.
