Wales international Richard Hibbard has signed a new undisclosed deal with the Aviva Premiership club Gloucester.

The 32-year-old joined the Cherry and Whites in 2014 after a 10-year stint with Ospreys and has made 56 appearances for the club till now out of which he has made 52 starts.

After making his international debut in June 2006 against Argentina at Puerto Madryn, Hibbard went on to play 41 Tests and has made 22 starts for Wales. He missed the 2011 World Cup because of injury.

The Wales hooker was also part of the 2013 British and Irish Lions squad tour of Australia and was capped in all the three games but made a start in the third Test.

Gloucester rugby director David Humphreys is delighted with the contract extension of Hibbard.

"Richard is another key signing for us," Humphreys told the club's official website.

"We knew we were bringing in an international-calibre hooker when he signed, and he's been a very big part of our forward effort ever since he arrived.

"He brings a wealth of experience and a winning attitude to the side, as well as a massive physical presence."

Meanwhile, Hibbard believes turning to the English Premiership has made him a better player.

I feel I've improved my game since I arrived.

"The Aviva Premiership is a tough league, there are no easy games, and I think that has actually benefited me as a player.

"I love playing at Kingsholm. The club and the supporters have been terrific to me."
