Munster have announced on Thursday that Ireland international Simon Zebo has been sidelined for five weeks due to a rib injury.

The 26-year-old wing sustained the injury during Munster's 23-13 victory over Scarlets last week in their Pro12 encounter.

The injury also makes Zebo a doubtful starter for Munster's European Champions Cup opener against Racing 92 on 16th October.

Apart from Zebo, Munster have also confirmed that hooker Kevin O'Byrne will be out of action for three months after suffering an elbow injury against Scarlets.

Meanwhile, Munster have signed South Africa international Jaco Taute on a four-month loan basis from Stormers and Western Province. However, his inclusion will be based on the approval of the work permit.

The 25-year-old has also made over 50 appearances in the Super Rugby having represented the Stormers and Lions while he has also been a part of the South Africa U20 team in 2010-11.
