However, Japanese international Derek Carpenter opened the Sunwolves account with a try in the 22nd minute and fly-half Tusi Pisi added the extras and followed it with two more penalties.

James Slipper's try allowed Reds to take a narrow 17-13 lead at the half-time.

The Reds managed to extend their lead with Browning scoring his second try within two minutes in the second half, but the Sunwolves continued to press on with a double try from Carpenter and Liaki Moli as the scores were levelled at 25-25 by the 57th minute.

There was a nervous moment in the game for the Reds with their Japanese star Goromaru walked off the field with a shoulder injury.
