Six Nations officials confirmed that the tournament's Untoward Incident Review Group have launched a probe on France's late replacement of Rabah Slimani in the controversial clash against Wales in the final round in Paris.

The game which had 21 minutes of added time saw replacement Damien Chouly scoring a try in the 99th minute followed by a conversion from Camille Lopez to seal a two point victory for Guy Noves' men.

Slimani, who was substituted in the 54th minute was allowed to return back in the 80th minute replacing Uini Atonio, who was sent for a head injury assessment.

Having completed an initial assessment of the incident, the tournament organisers have opted for further review.

"Following its preliminary investigation into the replacements made in the latter stages of the France v Wales match on 18 March 2017 (and in particular the replacement of Uini Atonio by Rabah Slimani), Six Nations Rugby has decided to refer the matter to the independent Six Nations Untoward Incident Review Group (UIRG) for review," read a statement released by Six Nations.

"Six Nations Rugby will send the file to the UIRG later this week and it is anticipated that the review process will begin shortly thereafter."

Earlier, Six Nations authorities also dismissed the charges laid by Wales on a biting incident involving George North after the video footage were inconclusive while France's Yoann Maestri was slammed with a fine of 30,000 euros for his criticism on referee Wayne Barnes.
