Pudsey and Bath Rugby 'Scrum Together'

BBC Children in Need’s 2015 appeal is revving up and players from Bath Rugby are asking people across Bath to ‘Be a Hero’ and get fundraising for the Charity

As this year’s BBC Children in Need appeal draws closer, iconic mascot Pudsey paid a visit to Bath Rugby’s Elite Training Headquarters, Farleigh House, to meet with players George Ford, Anthony Watson, Rhys Priestland, Dominic Day and Matt Garvey. Last season’s Aviva Premiership runners up, celebrating their 150th anniversary this season, are encouraging fans to ‘Be a Hero’ for BBC Children in Need this year and show their support for the charity.

Bath Rugby’s George Ford said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be supporting BBC Children in Need and to have Pudsey here with us today at Bath Rugby. I had never thought Pudsey would be such a natural rugby player, but he’s certainly shown us on the pitch today!”

There are plenty of ways to get involved, whether you want to organise a charity rugby match, put on your walking boots to ramble across the countryside, dress up as your childhood hero, put on a quiz or put on a bake sale, your support will help make a positive change to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.

BBC Children in Need currently funds 17 projects across Somerset with funding of more than £660,000. Being a hero for BBC Children in Need this year would help fund even more projects, just like the Bath Area Play Project which delivers weekly life skills sessions for disabled young people aged 13-19. The sessions are based around various topics including, healthy eating and kitchen skills, getting active, travel and safety, independence and relationships. The young people who attend are able to learn the skills needed to be independent and build on their strengths which helps to increase their self-confidence and empowers them to achieve.

BBC Children in Need will return to screens on Friday 13th November on BBC One. The official fundraising pack is available for download from bbc.co.uk/pudsey and is packed with ideas to help the public with their fundraising efforts, plus lots of exclusive content from the Charity’s celebrity friends. To date the Great British public has raised over £790 million for children and young people across the UK and the Charity is calling on people to once again pull out the stops and to help raise money to change young lives!
