Harlequins have confirmed the signing of Phil Swainston from Wasps ahead of the next season.

The 27-year-old was earlier part of Leeds Carnegie from 2009 and later joined Wasps in 2012 and has made 80 appearances for the Ricoh Arena outfit since then.

The 6ft 1in prop is expected to move to Twickenham Stoop in July and Harlequins rugby director John Kingston believes Swainston has the right attitude to propel his career with the club.

"Phil is a proven and experienced tighthead prop who will give us the necessary strength in depth in a key position," Kingston said.

"In my conversations with him, he has displayed a real hunger to be a regular starter, and I have no doubt he will provide strong competition for the other props in our squad."
