Brian O’Driscoll will wear a special pair of personalised adidas boots for his final home international when Ireland face Italy today.

Ireland’s record try-scorer will become the most capped international rugby player of all-time when he steps onto the Aviva Stadium pitch to win his 140th cap to eclipse the record set by Australian George Gregan.

As a tribute to their ambassador, adidas and Brian O’Driscoll have collaborated to create a special set of boots in his honour, the Predator Incurza XT.

The Ireland and Leinster centre has added some very personal touches to the boots by scribing ‘BOD’ by hand on the boots and the letters ‘A & S’ were also handwritten by O’Driscoll and embellished onto the front of the boots as a tribute to his wife Amy and daughter Sadie.

The upper lateral side of the boots feature the words ‘Leinster’ in recognition of O’Driscoll’s Province who he has represented throughout his career. Beside this the boots also include the words ‘Ad Astra’ the Latin for ‘to the stars’ that is the wording on his club UCD’s crest.

The Predator Incurza XT is a special colourway chosen by O’Driscoll in a collegiate navy, mett.gold and real green and a limited edition boot that is not available for re-sale. The Predator Incurza XT is O’Driscoll’s preferred playing boot and he took great pride in collaborating with adidas to create this very personal boot.

“I started my international career back in 1999 wearing adidas Predators and to this day I have continued to wear Predators. So when adidas asked me if I wanted to help them design a custom pair of Predators to mark my final home test for Ireland, I was really keen to get involved,” says Brian O’Driscoll.

“What was very special was the fact that I could add such personal touches the boots with words and letters that are so important to me, but to be able to handwrite some of these was extra special. When designing the boots I took inspiration from the colours and styles of my favourite Predators over the years, as well as the various teams I’ve played for.”
