Scorecard

Northampton Saints remain in contention for play-off berth following their 12-32 bonus point victory over Sale Sharks at AJ Bell Stadium in their Aviva Premiership clash on Friday.

Both teams failed to score a point in the first 26 minutes following which wing Ken Pisi and lock Michael Paterson crossed over for Northampton Saints in a span of six minutes with fly-half Stephen Myler adding the conversion.

Sale Sharks replied back with a try from Josh Charnley and a conversion from Sam James but another penalty from Myler meant the visitors ended the first half with a lead of eight points.

Hooker Mike Haywood extended Northampton Saints' advantage in the second half with a touchdown in the 54th minute while Myler's conversion and a penalty extended the gap to 18 points.

Even though lock Bryn Evans gave some hope to Sale Sharks when he danced past the post in 68th minute, replacement Ethan Waller capped off a fantastic game for Northampton Saints with his try in the final minute of the game.

Northampton Saints are placed sixth in the table with 44 points from 17 games while Sale Sharks are precariously placed at 10th with 29 points.
