Wasps have confirmed the signing of New Zealand international Malakai Fekitoa from French side Toulon.

Fekitoa will head to Ricoh Arena on completion of the ongoing season in Top 14 for Toulon which he joined in 2017. The 26-year-old will now link in Dai Young's squad along with fellow New Zealand team-mate Lima Sopoaga.

The 26-year-old also has experience of playing for Super Rugby sides Blues and Highlanders before joining Toulon. During his time with Highlanders he also helped them to a Super Rugby title in 2015.

“I am very excited to make the move to the Ricoh Arena next season," he said.

“Wasps are a team that play an exciting brand of rugby and are very ambitious. Hopefully I can help them push forward and achieve silverware in the next few years.”

Fekitoa has played for New Zealand 24 times including two Tests during the 2015 World Cup and has scored eight tries. However, his move to Wasps will put him out of contention for national selection as New Zealand do not pick overseas players.

“Malakai is a world-class player with bags of talent," said Wasps director of rugby Dai Young.

“He’s a proven player at the top level and to bring someone of his calibre to Wasps is a massive coup for the Club.

“We’re very much looking forward to welcoming him to the Ricoh in the summer where he will no doubt bring vital experience and know-how which will be of great benefit to some of our younger players.”
