Scarlets 13 - 23 Munster

A strong defensive performance by Munster marked the beginning of coach Rassie Erasmus' era with a gutsy 13-23 win over the Scarlets during the Pro12 clash at the Scarlets Park stadium on Saturday.

Despite the hosts enjoying the majority of possession and territory throughout the match, the visitors managed to score two tries opposed to one against Ken Owens and his men.

Prop James Cronin (18) and wing Ronan O'Mahony (29) crossed over the try line for Munster, whereas fly-half Tyler Bleyendaal managed to successfully convert the two tries apart from scoring two crucial penalties.

Ian Keatley, who came in as a replacement for fullback Simon Zebo in 17th minute, scored the third penalty for the visitors after Bleyendaal was substituted by Cian Bohane on the earlier minute.

Scrum-half Gareth Davies (31) scored the only try for the hosts which was promptly converted by fly-half Rhys Patchell, who also slotted two penalties for his side.

Eventually coach Wayne Pivac's men fell short against Munster's challenge by a solid 10 points as the Irish side emerged victorious.
