Gloucester Rugby has confirmed the signing of Munster hooker Mike Sherry on loan for the remainder of the ongoing season.

Sherry made his professional rugby debut with Munster in 2009 and has been an integral part of the club since then making 108 appearances in which he scored 12 tries.

The 30-year-old will head to Kingsholm as a cover for James Hanson, who sustained an Achilles injury that has ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Sherry has played a solitary Test appearance for Ireland that came during June 2013 against the United States of America in Houston.

Gloucester Rugby are currently positioned fourth in the Gallagher Premiership table with nine wins from 16 games and will face Wasps next at Kingsholm on 23rd March.
