Nehe Milner-Skudder scored hat-trick of tries as Hurricanes ran a 11-try riot to thrash Rebels by 71-6 in their Super Rugby encounter at Westpac Stadium on Saturday.

Centre Reece Hodge scored two penalties for Rebels in the first 10 minutes but that remained their only points in the game.

Milner-Skudder (16'), wing Vince Aso (20' and 31'), centre Ngani Laumape (26') and Matt Proctor (37') were the try scores for Hurricanes in the first half while All Blacks international Beauden Barrett added the extras on three occasions to take the hosts to 31 points at half-time.

The dominance from Hurricanes continued in the second half with Ardie Savea (41'), number eight Reed Prinsep (56'), wing Julian Savea (64') and Milner-Skudder (70' and 74) crossed over allowing three conversions for Barrett and two for replacement Otere Black as they completed a massive 65-point victory.

Hurricanes have claimed the top position from Chiefs in the New Zealand conference with the win while Rebels languish at the bottom of the table in the Australian conference.
