Australia captain Michael Hooper is set to remain on the sidelines for four weeks following a hamstring injury.

The 26-year-old sustained the blow during the third Test against Ireland at Allianz Stadium last weekend where he left the field in the 16th minute. He will now miss the action at least until the play-offs for his Super Rugby club Waratahs.

The news was confirmed by Waratahs' assistant coach Simon Cron on Monday.

"Our physios are working with the Wallabies physios around the time frames and from what I understand, at this stage, I'd say four weeks," said Cron.

"We'd hope to have him back in our finals series. It's very early. They will keep working through it."

Waratahs currently are at the top of the Australian Conference with seven wins from 13 games and will take on Melbourne Rebels next at AAMI Park on 29th June.
