Leicester Tigers have confirmed backs Matt Smith and Matthew Tait have penned new deals with the Aviva Premiership club.

Smith joined Leicester Tigers in 2006 and has made over 200 appearances for the club since then while England international Tait joined the Welford Road unit in 2011 after stints with Newcastle Falcons and Sale Sharks.

"They are excellent examples to our younger players on and off the field," said head coach Matt O'Connor.

"Smithy and Taity have proved very valuable members of the squad over a number of years. They are very committed to the Tigers and they're able to play in a number of different roles."

Leicester Tigers are currently positioned seventh in the Aviva Premiership table with nine wins from 16 games.
