Wasps have confirmed that prop Matt Mullan and wing Ambrose Curtis have departed from the Gallagher Premiership club.

Mullan, who has played 17 Tests for England between 2010 and 2017 joined Wasps from Worcester Warriors in 2013 and has racked up 128 appearances for the Ricoh Arena outfit including 96 Premiership games.

However, his appearance this season was restricted due to a knee injury.

Former New Zealand Under 20 Curtis played for Wellington and Manawatu before joining Wasps and featured for them in the Premiership Rugby Shield. The 26-year-old also made one Premiership Rugby Cup appearance against Northampton Saints that came in November.

“The Club wish Matt well with his next steps and thank him for his contribution to Wasps Rugby over the past five seasons," Wasps director of rugby Dai Young said in a statement released by Wasps.

“We’d like to thank Ambrose for his efforts and professionalism during his time at Wasps and wish him all the best in the future," he added.

Wasps are currently positioned sixth in the Gallagher Premiership with six wins from 12 games while they languish at bottom of Pool 1 in the Heineken Champions Cup after losing all their five games.

Meanwhile, the Premiership club also have confirmed that prop Zurabi Zhvania has extended his stay with the side for the 2019/20 season.

The Georgian international joined Wasps in 2018 as an injury replacement for Mullan but has managed to make a mark for himself with 15 appearances this season.

The 21-year-old previously played for Stade Francais and helped them clinch the Top 14 title in 2015 and a Challenge Cup triumph in 2017.

“Obviously losing Matt Mullan last year to injury was a blow but Zurabi has come in and done a tremendous job," said Young.

“He is a big, physical player who has consistently performed at the top level and I have no doubt he’ll play a key part in our scrum moving forward.”

Zhvania is keen to contribute to the club success and expressed delight on the reception he received with the side.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time here at Wasps so far and I’ve made a lot of good friends.

“There is a good culture at the Club and I can’t wait to try and help the team push on to try and achieve success in the near future.”
