England coach Eddie Jones has left out Jonathan Joseph, George Kruis, Kyle Sinckler and James Haskell for the three-day training squad to be held in Oxford.

All four players were part of the British and Irish Lions squad on their recent tour of New Zealand that ended in a 1-1 draw.

Kruis and Haskell have just returned from ankle and hand injuries respectively while Sinckler played all three games for the Lions against the All Blacks. Joseph has been a mainstay in England's midfield since establishing himself in the team in 2015 and has only missed one of Jones' 20 matches in charge, against Italy in this year's Six Nations tournament.

The former Australian coach insisted that the players do have a chance to feature in the autumn internationals when he announces the squad on 26th October.

"You have to remember this is a training squad for Oxford, we'll make selection calls for the autumn further down the line," Jones said.

"They're not in the squad for this camp, if things change there's a possibility they could be in the squad for the Argentina game.

"This is the training squad and these are the players I want to look at. I wouldn't jump at shadows just yet.

"Some guys need to work on their games and we've had those discussions with them. We don't think those coming back from injury will benefit from being with England."

Uncapped fly-half Marcus Smith is also part of the 33-man squad along with flankers Tom Curry and Sam Underhill, who made their debuts against Argentina earlier this year. The squad includes 18 players who toured Argentina in June and 11 who travelled to New Zealand with the Lions.

"This camp in Oxford is a really positive opportunity for the group to come back together and sharpen our focus and preparation ahead of our first match against Argentina," added Jones.

Denny Solomona, who was reprimanded for an alcohol-related incident during the previous training camp in Teddington was ignored while in-form Bath wing Semesa Rokoduguni also misses out on the training squad selection.

England are set to play Argentina, Australia and Samoa during their autumn internationals.
