Scorecard

Rohan Janse van Rensburg scored a double including the decisive try in the final 10 minutes to help Lions seal a 25-26 thrilling win over Cheetahs in their Super Rugby encounter at Toyota Stadium on Saturday.

The first half saw Lions fly-half Elton Jantjies and his counterpart Fred Zeilinga exchange a couple of penalties but at the stroke of half-time the visitors lost Faf de Klerk temporarily after he was yellow carded.

Cheetahs wing Raymond Rhule capitalised on Lions being one man down temporarily and crossed over early in the second half with Zeilinga adding a conversion and a penalty.

Van Rensburg scored the first of his two tries in the 52nd minute and Jantjies' conversion reduced the gap between the teams to three points.

Even though Lions were awarded a penalty try following the sin bin to Cheetahs replacement Francois Uys, Zeilinga scored three penalties to give the hosts four point lead heading into the final five minutes.

But van Rensburg had other plans when he strolled past the post in the 76th minute to secure a thrilling one point win to Lions.
