Leicester Tigers wing Nick Malouf has been handed a three-week suspension following his yellow card incident in the recently concluded Aviva Premiership clash against Wasps at Welford Road last weekend.

The incident happened in the 20th minute of the game when the 25-year-old was sin-binned by referee Luke Pearce for a high tackle on Wasps' Christian Wade.

Malouf, who came off the bench replacing Manu Tuilagi appeared before an independent disciplinary panel on Tuesday after he was cited by an independent citing commissioner Paul Hull and pleaded guilty to the charges.

Panel Chairman John Brennan stated that Malouf actions warranted mid-range sanctions but has been reduced to half following his guilty plea.

"The player accepted that he had committed an act of foul play which passed the red card test," said Chairman Brennan.

"The panel found that the player had struck the Wasps player's head.

"This required a mid-range entry point in accordance with the sanction table.

"Given the player's guilty plea and his clean disciplinary record the panel allowed full mitigation of 50%, he was suspended for a period of three weeks."

Leicester Tigers are currently positioned fifth in the table with 11 wins from 18 games.
