Leicester Tigers 41-18 Sale Sharks, Welford Road
Scorecard

Leicester Tigers came up with a five try performance as they moved close to securing a play-off berth with a convincing 41-18 victory over Sale Sharks in their Aviva Premiership encounter at Welford Road on Saturday.

An early yellow card to Josh Charnley saw Sale Sharks reduced to 14-men temporarily following which Freddie Burns kicked a penalty to get Leicester Tigers off the mark.

However, Sale Sharks replied back with a touchdown from Rob Webber followed by a penalty and a conversion from AJ MacGinty to claim a seven point.

It took Leicester just two more minutes to level the scores as Burns managed a converted try and Graham Kitchener followed the suit with a 30th minute try as the hosts took a 20-10 lead at half time.

Even though MacGinty started the second half with a penalty for Sale Sharks, tries from Owen Williams and Jack Roberts put Sale Sharks to a comfortable 21 point lead heading into half time. A desperate effort from Bryn Evans with a 74th minute try was negated by Leicester replacement George McGuigan as they completed a 41-18 victory.

Leicester Tigers are assured of finishing in the fourth spot if Bath fails to beat Gloucester in the Sunday's encounter.
