La Rochelle ran eight tries at the Stade Marcel-Deflandre to handover 51-24 drubbing to Bayonne during the 2016-17 European Rugby Challenge Cup pool clash on Thursday.

Fullback Charles Bouldoire(6, 34) scored a double, while openside-flanker Romain Sazy (3), blindside-flanker Jason Eaton (23), left-wing Steeve Barry (38), replacement fly-half Arthur Retiere (53), replacement left-wing Levani Botia (56) and number-4 lock Leandro Cedaro (72) scored a try each for the hosts.

Fly-half Brock James managed to convert four tries in addition to slotting a penalty on the 19th minute.

In response, right-wing Martin Laveau (21) and number-5 lock Pablo Huete (43) scored tries for the visitors while a penalty try was awarded on the 75th minute.

Fly-half Lucas Meret converted both the tries while his replacement Guillaume Rouet slotted the conversion for the penalty try.

After pocketing a massive bonus-point win at the French derby, La Rochelle will now host Italian side Benetton Treviso, while Bayonne will travel to Kingsholm Stadium to face Gloucester in the next weekend's Pool 1 clash.
