Wales will miss the services of winger Alex Cuthbert for the remainder of the Six Nations Championship following a knee injury.

The 27-year-old was not picked in Wales' matchday 23 for the recently concluded encounter against England which Warren Gatland's side went on to lose 12-6 at Twickenham.

Cuthbert suffered the injury while training with his club Cardiff Blues ahead of their Pro 14 clash against Cheetahs last weekend and now will need four to six weeks of rehabilitation period.

"We should see him late in the season, it's a knee wash-out more than anything so hopefully not too bad in terms of his rehab," Cardiff Blues head coach Danny Wilson told BBC Sport Wales.

Cuthbert, who has 48 Test appearances has already announced that he will exit Cardiff Blues at the end of the ongoing season and if he decides to ply his trade overseas then it might very well be the end of his international career. The Welsh Rugby Union's new selection policy prevents Wales players featuring for overseas clubs to be considered for the national side if they have less than 60 caps.

Wales are set to face Ireland next in the third round of the Six Nations Championship at Aviva Stadium on 24th February.
